Most efficient way of scanning microfilm?

Greetings,

I recently obtained some microfilmed documents related to the Luftwaffe and I was wondering what the easiest, least expensive and least time consuming way of digitally scanning them would be. I have a standard Epson desktop scanner with a transparency adapter. A friend of mine with a similar set-up actually snipped the microfilm into little segments and laboriously scanned it 2 or 3 frames at a time, but there must be a more efficient way of doing it. Is there a specialized scanner that handles rolls of microfilm?

Thanks in advance,

Jared Zichek
