Luftwaffe and Luftwaffe-related files in the AWM
Hi everyone.
I just thought I'd let you know that a list of all Luftwaffe and Luftwaffe-related files held by the Australian War Memorial has been posted on the LWAG site. Find it at: http://lwag.org/reference/awm006.pdf The list contains about 150 documents held by the AWM, and amongst these are some interesting ones that I would love to have a look at (I'll have to get down to Canberra one day). I have added comments when I know the contents or length of documents, and hopefully I'll be able to add to these comments as I order more copies. If anyone can help out with more information on Luftwaffe documents in the AWM, please contact me by email at bookie190@hotmail.com To view this list you need Acrobat Reader, this can be downloaded for free at http://www.adobe.com . Cheers, Andrew Arthy [This message has been edited by Richard T Eger (edited 28 March 2024).] New from Andrew as of 11-21-01: "The following are the documents contained in the Australian War Memorial in Canberra that are Luftwaffe-related. Many are translations of Luftwaffe documents, while others are Allied intelligence documents. The 423/4/103 series is particularly interesting and covers a wide range of topics, including Nachtschlachtgruppe operations, the results of the “Dambusters” raid and the air war over Normandy. There are also some loss lists that have been discussed elsewhere on the Luftwaffe Archives Group site. In some cases I have added comments on documents, these will be shown in red. I’ve finally been able to update this listing. Over the past month or two I’ve received around 300 pages from the Australian War Memorial." The update URL has been changed above. If I get more information about these documents I'll let you know. Cheers, Andrew A." The URL for the latest update, 07 Sept. 2024, has been given above. Dear Andrew,
You have done a really nice job. The list expands significantly on our earlier knowledge of what is of interest to us in the AWM archives. Regards, Richard |

Hi Andrew,
thanks for your post. Lots of interesting stuff hidden away in the archives. It's just a matter of digging it out! I have discovered only today that there is a set of technical appriasals held by the AWM on all sorts of things German. I was interested to note that an X-4 was shipped to Australia as well as the Enzian and Hs293D Cheers Alan |
