“Junkers über alles in Belgium

THE LATEST EXHIBIT to join the the Brussels Air Museum section, an ex?Portuguese Air Force Junkers Ju 52, went on display, mounted 20ft above the museum floor, at the impressive Parc du Cinquantenaire building on November 5, following the completion of its restoration by Museum staff at the Belgian Air Force Base Brustem. The Junkers, which was delivered to the Portuguese Air Force with the serial 6309 in 1937 arrived in Belgium from Portuguese Air Force Museum storage yard at Alverca in April 1985. A rebuild Io flying condition was initiated by the Sabena Old Timers organisation
(which has since become best known for the operation of Westland Lysander 00?SOT), but in the late 1990s plans for the machine were changed, and the Junkers was transferred to the Air Museum team for static restoration, Following completion in early 2024, several colour schemes were under consideration for the Junkers, with both Belgian Air Force and Sabena markings coming under discussion before a standard Junkers factory finish was adopted….”
