I have been in the same situation. At $.10 per page, it adds up fast, and takes a lot of time.

However, the Universtiy where I have been doing my research has recently installed a new microfilm scanner. It looks like the normal viewing machine, but it is connected to a PC and will save the pages as a TIF files on floppy disks. Currently the universtiy does not charge for a scan, only for a print out. I have been getting about ten pages per disk.

I would be worth calling around to see if a library, School or Universtity in your area has this equipment. It is still realtively new, but I have a feeling they are going to become a lot more commmon.
