Paper quality in publishing

Thanks Rabe for your comments. I agree that glossy paper is treated more "heavily". However, as far I know, there are some glossy art paper qualities ("acid free"?) that meet strict standards of permanence. My book collection is relatively new with few exceptions. One book dates from 1937, and it wasn´t printed on such coated paper. Another older one is Ray Wagner´s American Combat Planes from 1968. It is very yellowish now, and it wasn´t printed on coated paper.
One more thing. I wrote my previous commentary before getting the book in question. I got it yesterday, and while the content seems to be excellent (the original photos must have pretty good but...), the printing isn´t. It is easy to compare with the recent German Secret Flight Test Centres by Midland Publishing. Both are printed by the Ian Allan Printing, but the key difference is the paper used.
