NARA Records on Luftwaffe Support Operations in the defense of Berlin, April 1945
Aloha,
I am researching Luftwaffe air and ground operations in support of the defense (and attempted relief of) Berlin in April 1945. I am fairly familiar with NARA holdings of German Army records (Heer) having visited the archive on a number of occasions, but this is my first foray into Luftwaffe operations. I plan to look at the Von Rohden Collection (T-321 series) and the KTB Luftflotte 6, the appendices to the war diary of which I understand survive until the end of the war. I understand that almost no records of Luftgau III survived the war, however? Other areas I am interested in doing some digging among records include: Operations by transportfliegerfuehrer Reich & the Grossraumtransportstaffel on resupply operations to Berlin late April 1945 Support operations by Luftwaffenkommando Nordost and Luftflotte IV (Luftwaffenkommando IV after 21 April I believe). OOB for the 1st Flakartillerie Division & war diaries records for April 1945 (if any exist) The employment of a Flying Hitler Youth Tank Destruction Squadron equipped wiht Bucker 181 monoplane trainers retrofitted with panzerfausten south of Berlin. I would be very appreciative of any guidance and advice to aid me in my research. Mahalo nui loa, Russell
