Default Looking for information on an airman...

Hi.. I'm looking for details of the last events of a Lancaster MkIII and would be grateful if anyone can give me any details.

The aircraft No ED881 from 103 Squadron under the Identification "PM-S" was one of 358 aircraft which Bombed Leipzig on Oct 20th/21st 1943. 16 Aircraft were lost on the mission.

All records I've found so far simply record ED881 as "Failed to Return" but no further details. I've tried looking for records of German pilots to see if anyone made a claim to shooting down our aircraft but no luck.

I have found a site which lists 15 aircraft shot down during that raid, but nothing to confirm one of them was ED881. (Still one unaccounted for)

If anyone out there has access to any further records which can shed any light I'd appreciate it. Mainly I'm looking to discover where (if at all) the plane was shot down, or if it had a mechanical failure either going to or returning from Leipzig, or even if it simply suffered in the appalling weather conditions of the night.

Any info anyone may have, do please drop me a line!

Trev
