Hello!

Here you are names (some may be uncorrect - because of transliteraton from Russian documents) of German pilots and bomber/recon crews that was SD and captured on the Russian front in 1941-1942.

Any details of German Losses are needed (date, type & WNr of a/c, unit etc)

1) Otw Helmut Fray (Frey? Frai?), 4/14 (recon pilot)
2) Lt Hans Rutz (Ruetz?), 3/31
3) Fw Walter Buler (Bueler?), StG 2
4) Fw Rudolf Schick, KG26
5) Fw Karl Aul (?), KG51
6) Gefr Karl Kuner (Kuener?), KG51
7) Hpt Gunther von Winczewski (?), KG51
8) Oblt Friedrich Kracke (Krake?), KG77
9) Lt Karl Schnecker (Snekker?), IV/JG27
10) Ofw Alexander Mudin, I/JG51
11) Lt Herbert Buschmann, JG51
12) Erich Schiffer, 3/JG52

Also I have info that He111 WNr 4310, built July 1941, was SD by MiGs in 1st half of Sept.1941 in Rogozovo area. Any other details (date, unit, crew) are needed.

But that is not results of MY researches.
These Names was given to me by my friend, all of them are from Soviet GPW documents - POWs inquest protocols. Fate of the man not mentioned there There they are written only in Russian (Cyrillic) - that is because some (if not all) of them are not fully correct. All that I know is that those LW men all was SD in air combats by Russian MiG-3 fighters (the complete history of that Soviet aircraft is the main target of my friend's work). He (not I) needed add info about those LW men. I will ask him, but I think all he may know - Nos of Soviet units, which downed those Germans, and, may be - MiGs pilots names...

And he can give anorther German POWs names, then I will post them here.

The valuable finding is that they are not MIA any more. They are POW, although with uncertain fate ...

Hi, All!

Yes, it is a valuable finding that some of reported MIA German pilots could be found as POWs in Soviet documents. I, personally, face such cases now and again. Here is another occasion in which we managed to identify German crew, listed as non returned from combat mission (sorry for incorrect spelling of names):
On March 25, 1942 Starshiy Leytenant (1-st leutenant) Smirnov from 788 IAP PVO, shot down Ju-88D-1 north-west of Stalingrad. German crew was captured:
Lt. Helmut Grosse
Fw. Ewald Belkinkoff - ?
Gefr. Mischke
Uffz. Taninger
During interrogation they told they were from detachment, commanded by Hpt. Britzel. I suppose one of far recon groups...
Together with Mikhail we have collected a pack of such stories, but unfortunatelly we are not able to trace fates of those man in Soviet confinement...

Regards.
