Third Reich Forum becomes the Axis History Forum

I just wanted to let you all know that The Third Reich Historical Forum has moved to a new address and has a new name:
Axis History Forum - http://forum.axishistory.com/

The forum is still an apolitical forum for discussions on the Axis nations of WW2, as well as the First and Second World Wars in general, and we hope to see you there.

Who knows this KC winner???

Hello!
This is maybe a very long shot, but I have often been helped with the strangest questions on this board - therefore I ask:
In the old OSPREY book "Luftwaffe airborne and field units",
Men at Arms series from 1972, there is a LW KC winner on page 36, he is a POW, walking next to an Oberleutnant from
the "Hermann Goering" Division in a London Station July 43.
I have searched for his name in many years......can anyone help???
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I hope one of You great historians can help.
Thank You
Christian, Denmark

Christian -

You may want to consider posting your question on the "Biographical" sub-forum on the Axis History Forum website. If you will copy the photo and paste it into your question there, I can almost guarantee someone will quickly identify the RKT for you.

And the answer is...

4.233.161.229

Guenther HANNAK, former Staffelkapitaen of the 7./JG 27, captured 5.May 1943 when engine failure near Malta resulted in a forced landing (his machine, Bf 109G-6 WNr.18046, still wearing its Stammkennzeichen GP+IZ, was recovered relatively intact).

You might observe the slightly-darker lower area of his right breast pocket where his DKiG had been worn (the photo in Obermaier shows him in same jacket). Wonder who got that?

The response......

205.188.116.80

did not concern fighter planes, fighter pilots, markings, codes or camouflage, CJE, so I strongly doubt if the details would have been of much interest to those who use this Board. Further, the reply was speculative and best kept personal to avoid violating possible family privacy issues since it concerned the inquirer's father. Had you been in my shoes, I feel certain that you would have handled it the same way. Finally, the inquirer would have been better served in the first instance by asking his question on the "Axis History Forum" website where the regulars who visit there are better equipped to handle questions concerning the non-flying activities of the Luftwaffe.

Museums

I'm compiling information on museums with Axis WW2 equipment on my site, the Axis History Factbook at http://www.axishistory.com , and I'd appreciate any help with additions (text or photos) or corrections to the material.

The museums section can be found at http://www.axishistory.com/?id=56

Thanks.
