Default National Archives online

I do not like the American National Archives and Records Administration. However, a recent news item at Yahoo news mentions that 50 million items are now online from NARA. Although genealogical research was mentioned as one benefit, there were also positive comments from those looking for POW/MIA records and even Japanese Americans looking for internment related records. The AAD or Access to Archival Databases program is here:

A final thought about the NARA. If history is so important to the people of the U.S., why doesn't the government provide more funding?
