The following information comes from Dénes Bernád. Dénes wrote recently to a Russian aviation history researcher of his acquaintance with the following inquiry:

"Also, maybe there are captured German files at Podolsk, with Luftwaffe losses for 1944 (documents of the Generalquartiermeister 6). Information on captured German aircraft also are of interest. Of course, captured Rumanian documents would be of interest as well."

His acquaintance wrote back:

"Yes, there is a fund of capture [Axis] documents in Podolsk, but getting files from it requires personal permission of the General Staff of Russian Army. Unfortunately I don't have one."

Dénes further commented to me that Podolsk is "the main source for documents. It would be crucial, indeed, if one could obtain the permission to do research in these special files..."

Perhaps one of our members has an "in" with the Russian government and can actually gain the required access. It certainly appears to be an attractive lead.

Regards,
Richard

Do you have any acess to any of the cases to Reichkrigegericht (Court Martial) in Berlin. I have heard that this archive moved to Moscow in 1945. I searching infomation
about a case where a german pilot, Willie Ross was trialed for desertion and later executed in Stettin, july 1942. Willie Ross and a other pilot hijakced a plane and tried to
fly to England, but crashlanded in Norway, during this crashlanding, the other pilot drowned.

Tormod.
