Dienstaltersliste der Offiziere der Deutschen Luftwaffe
From 12 O'Clock High!:
Marcel Hogenhuis Wilhelm Beier, a mystery... Mon Feb 16 14:50:55 2024 217.122.92.115 Dear all, My question: who knows something about Beier's career (if any) between July 1943 and May 1945 ?? The reason for asking is this: Wilhelm Beier, born 18 November 1913, had been pilot in several units: Zerst.St./KG 30, 3./NJG 2, Erg.St./NJG 2, 9./NJG 2, 8./NJG 2, 10./NJG 1 and 3./NJG 1. He was one of the very early nightfighter aces, got his Ritterkreuz on 11 October 1941 and scored his last and 38th victory in the night of 29/30 June 1943. After this night: silence, no traces of him, no victories or a Namentliche Verlustmeldung that might give a clue about his career. I only know that he WAS transferred from 3./NJG 1 to....... and that he survived the war and died on 12 July 1977. From an account of a former Bordfunker it seems that he lost his fighting spirit but if this is true: what happened to such pilots? Any help is appreciated!
