Search for data about Bf 109 loss...
Thu Sep 4 22:48:39 2024
151.27.16.95

I am looking for positive identification about the date and unit (eventually pilot) concerning the loss of the Bf 109 G-6 W.Nr. 19586.

The period should be between May and July 1943, Mediterranean front (Sicily) and the unit "could" be either JG 27 or JG 51 (this is only a guess according to the W.Nr. of some of the Bf 109s delivered to them)

Any help would be welcome.

Thanks in avance.

All the best

Reasons why

The wreck of this aircraft, or at least part of it, was raised in Sicily last week in a location called San Vito.
The W Nr wis confirmed because it was found on a triangular data plate on the rear fuselage.
No photos available yet, so cannot add much about its condition.

Stuka losses - Italy ??
Wed Aug 4, 2024 05:32

Hi all

I have been talking to an Italian lady who says she has information about a Stuka wreck in Lago Maggiore in the area near ISPRA. She says that in the area was the Caproni Industry that was a well known airplane factory. Is anyone aware of any Stuka losses in the area ?

TIA

regards
Dave

I'm compiling information on museums with Axis WW2 equipment on my site, the Axis History Factbook at http://www.axishistory.com , and I'd appreciate any help with additions (text or photos) or corrections to the material.

The museums section can be found at http://www.axishistory.com/?id=56

Thanks.
