Luftwaffe 39-45
This site, which covers, Luftwaffe organization, aces, planes, markings, ranks, uniforms, etc., is in Portuguese, so I will have to rely heavily on Altavista. It is, however, a very good site and well worth the look. The site address is:
http://www.luftwaffe3945.hpg.ig.com.br/ This brings you to the introduction: "During the last months of the World War II, the superiority numerical of the Allies evident that became so, only 8ª Air Force possuía North American about 1,500 huntings more than all the Luftwaffe. Moreover, the USAAF still counted on 9ª and 15ª Air Force ready to enter in operation at any time, if necessary! This site is dedicated to the memory of all the pilots of the Luftwaffe that they had fought until the end in defense of its Native land, exactly knowing that one was about a lost cause." Clicking on the Brandenburg Gate icon, brings you to the index page. Here are the different sections: Organization - Structure of Command Oberkommando der Luftwaffe (OKL) - Includes table of directorates and a visual hierarchy of the positions and its Standards. Luftflotte - Includes table of Luftflotten for 1939, 1942, 1944, and 1945. Luftgau (Administrative) Fliegerdivision, Fliegerführer Geschwader (Tactician) - Gives tables of group and aircraft strengths. Gruppe Staffel Schwarm Rotte Kette Main Aircraft An initial table gives a listing of the primary Luftwaffe aircraft and the numbers of each produced. By selecting a particular aircraft manufacturer from the left hand column, you come to a table with a small profile and basic information for each of the types listed. Clicking on the profile, which serves as a link icon, will bring you to more detailed information and photos on the specific aircraft types. The types so covered are: Ar 68 Ar 69 Ar 196 Ar 232 Ar 234 Ar 240 Bv 138 Bv 222 DFS 230 Do 17 Do 18 Do 24 Do 215 Do 217 Do 335 Fi 156 Fw 189 Fw 190 Fw 200 Ta 152 Ta 154 He 46 He 51 He 59 He 60 He 111 He 112 He 114 He 115 He 162 He 177 He 219 Hs 123 Hs 126 Hs 129 Ju 52 Ju 86 Ju 87 Ju 88 Ju 90 Ju 188 Ju 252 Ju 290 Ju 388 Bf 108 Bf 109 Bf 110 Me 163 Me 210 Me 262 Me 321 Me 323 Me 410 Si 204 Aircraft Markings Fuselage insignias - crosses and swastikas Fuel codes Understanding the abbreviations (JG) Bombers, night fighters, transports, etc. Huntings monoranks and hunting-bombers Markings of the Gruppen Identifying the Staffel Identifying the unit of one it hunts monorank GruppeStab & GeschwaderStab Markings of the GruppeStab Markings of the GeschwaderStab In defense of the Reich Main Aces Text, photos, and victory numbers for the main aces. Extensive bibliography of Hans-Ulrich Rudel, with photos and color profiles. Extensive tables follow of additional top scoring aces, including victories, rank, unit, missions, and eventual fate. Finally, a list of record holders is presented. Medals This section appears to deal more with photos and a discussion of the history of various medals, rather than generally the recipients. Hierarchy of the Ranks A short table of shoulder board colors is given. This is followed by a table comparing equivalent ranks among Luftwaffe, RAF, USAAF, and Brazilian Air Force. Within the Wehrmacht, a table is given comparing ranks among the various services. Shoulder board and lapel rank identification is given in the next table. Next is given a table showing the hierarchy of the units and the ranks of the commanders. Glossary - Some terms used in the Luftwaffe Extensive listing. Too bad it doesn't give the results in English. Militaria - Color photos with descriptions of various Luftwaffe uniforms and clothing. Songs of the Luftwaffe - 5 songs are available |

The "Luftwaffe 39-45" website
Have found this site an invaluable research tool for my work on the Jagdflieger, however it seems to have fallen off the web - having tried all the links you've provided - anyone have any up to date info where it has gone, or why it's been taken offline?
cheers |
