There was a 3. Go 242 Staffel (Feldpostnummer L 49091) that was formed February - April 1942 with 15 Go 242 gliders as part of Go-Kdo./Luftflotte 1 based at Pskov on the northern sector of the Eastern Front. Towed by Ju 52s, the gliders were used to supply the German garrison cut off in Kholm. In June 1942 3. Go 242 Staffel was renamed 1.(Go)/Verbindungskommando (S) 1. The Staffel was not used after around the end of June and the remaining gliders and personnel were transferred to Lechfeld/Germany in October and incorporated into I./Luftlandegeschwader 2.
