Bobbie Russian files Thu Jan 16 00:51:28 2024 64.12.97.6 Hi Carl: Thought I'd answer for Mike as I too am curious. Ehrler and Schultz were with JG5 up in the north in the Arctic circle. They were flying out of Finland in sorties over Murmansk. If any files do exist, that would be the area. Also Rudi Muller of JG5 was shot down in April of '43 in the same general area. There are many speculations as to what became of him. He was taken captive so I'm wondering if there are any records to explain what exactly happened to him. Thanks! Bobbie |

Mike Walton Crash sites Thu Jan 16 03:29:10 2024 206.149.193.177 Carl, One loss report has Ehrler crashing "East of Kowdosero-See" Another:The incident is in the War Diary of the Soviet 16th Gurad Fighter Air Division, in which 3 Me-109's were shot down, one West of Razvezda and two W of station Njam-ozero One report states it was shot down by fighters another by AAA. Kurt Schultz was shot down by attacking Yak 3 fighters, after shooting down an IL-2, about 20 - 25 miles NW of Pechenga or Petsamo, near the old Finnish border |
